Daftar Isi:
- Body image is more precarious to many middle adults, aged 35 – 45 years old, than to those of other age ranges. One way to improve body image is exercise. Exercise can also improve one’s body image psychologically (King et al in Ogden, 2007). Those who do exercise and those who do not are supposed to have different body image. This study aimed to know the body image differentiation between those who do exercise and those who do not. This study used quantitative method with Independent Sample T-test. The body image questionnaire was developed from Cash theory (Banfield & McCabe, 2002). To test the validity and reliability, the questionnaire was administered to 30 respondents. Meanwhile, through a quota and snowball sampling method, the sample of 130 respondents was obtained. The results indicated that there was a significant difference of body image between those who do exercise and those who do not (t = - 3.253, p<0.05). Body image of those who do exercise is higher than those who do not. But, there is no significant difference of body image between man and woman (t = 1.812, p > 0.05).
