- Currently, identification systems have leaned more toward biometric systems. This is because biometric identification systems are not subject to poor memory because the system involves body parts that are part of oneself. Many biometric systems have been developed. This includes recognition of hand shapes. One's hand can become a subject for identification because its pattern is unique. Identification using this kind of system involves calculation of finger length, finger width, total hand width, and the angles between fingers. The writer, therefore, will develop a biometric identification system by calculating finger length. Detection involves four parts: the first is enhancement of the original image, second is segmentation, third is identifying the value of the center of the hand and finger length, and finally identification of the user by calculating the data and comparing it with current data saved in order to evaluate the application's ability to identify and differentiate between each data. The entire test comprised of 30 samples. Data from each sample was tested five times. From these testing results, 128 out of 150 attempts, or 85% of attempts, were a success. The percentage of successful attempts can be improved by enriching the identifications methods used within the system. An example would be by factoring in the width of fingers, hands, and distance between fingers in order to recognize the user.
