- The incidence of heart failure has reached 26 million people worldwide, with a great number amongst them in developing countries. Two conditions are often found in heart failure patients, namely sarcopenia and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), both increase the mortality rate of heart failure patients. Aside from that, OSA has been suspected to cause sarcopenia. However, the relationship between the two is unclear. Previous studies regarding the topic had yielded controversial results.
