- The study determined resources – use efficiency, the costs and returns of paddy production among farmers in two – different land typologies in Bengkulu Province. Two – stages Cluster sampling is applied to determine research area on the basis of paddy field area. Cross section data were collected with the aid of structuredquestionnaires which were administered to 100 randomly selected paddy farmers cultivated on sawah(wetland) and dryland respectively or a total of 200 paddy farmers. Cobb – Douglas production function is applied and estimated with ordinary least square method in order to estimate the level of resource – use efficiency as well as to estimate relative percentage change in marginal value products of each resouces needed to obtain optimal resource allocation. Meanwhile, Farm Budgeting Analysis is used to examine paddy farm peformance. Research found that farm area and women farm labour are significantly different from zero and positif while other factors are not with exception of men labour is significant with negative sign. They operate at increasing return to scale. Furthermore, most resources applied are under optimal usage, so farmers have to increase their input usage. Research also found that farmers operate their farm business efficiently.
