- The prupose of this study was to determine the cultural concept of old Malay society the influence of Islam on the basis of classical Malay literature, namely the text manuscript entitled Hikayat Darrna Tahsiyah (HDT). This research use descriptive rnethod. The result showed that the manuscript text stories Hikqyat Darma Tahsiyoh (HDT) Indonesia categorized as long influence of Islamic literature, especially fhction of Islam with a bit of Islamic influence. In this text also contained of cultural thinking society. The position and role of Darma Tahsiyah as a woman and wife, as welt as exernplary housewife in accordance with the development and socio-cultural nature of thinking society. Cultural values are very important in these story Hikayat Darma Tahsiyah is a value loyality a wife who is very submissive and obedient to her husband, which leads to the 'cult/apotheosis', giving the irnpression that only and his role as other man behind' only. The dominance of the husband is very prominent, there is no tolerance for wife so strong authoritarian naturp Hikayat Darma Tahsiyah in the story, though in the end came a change and attitude and behavior of the husband. against his wife's position and role within the family/housband.
