- This research was a classroom action research. This research was aimed to explain how describing picture technique can increase students’ vocabulary mastery and what factors which influence the increasing of students’ vocabulary by using describing picture technique. This research was carried out at grade VB of SDN 101 Bengkulu in the 2010/2011 academic year, which consisted of 31 students. To see the students’ improvement, the researcher used quantitative and qualitative data collection technique. The instruments of this research were written tests, students observation checklist and teacher observation checklist. The result of this research showed an increasing of students’ vocabulary mastery. The mean score of students in cycle 1 was 60.4 and the students’ mean score in cycle 2 was 92.5. describing picture technique has successfully increased the students’ vocabulary mastery. It was also proven by the students’ attitude during the implementing of the technique.
