- This study aimed to analyze the students’ problem in translating English words in the English study program of FKIP Universitas Bengkulu in academic year 2006/2007. The population of this research comprised of the students of sixth semester. The samples 40 students were taken by using total sampling technique. The instrument was a set of word translation test that consisted of three parts, i.e. they are word translation test, word-in-sentence translation test and word-indiscourse translation test. The data were analyzed using percentage formula. The results of the study showed that the students of English Study Program Universitas Bengkulu still had problem in translating words. Most students had a serious problem in translating word in discourse (55.6%). Translating word in sentence (48.7%) also posed a problem.
