- The objective of this research was to investigate the task components of English material that taught at The Nursing Department of POLTEKKES Bengkulu in Curup whether it’s communicative or not. It was employed descriptive method. The sample of this research was the tasks of English material which compiled by the lecture of Nursing Department. The tasks spread out into 17 units of tasks. The data was collected by using checklist proposed by Nunan (1989) that consist of six components of communicative tasks, namely; goal, input, activity, teacher role, learner role and setting. But in this thesis, the researcher only used four elements of communicative tasks, namely goal, input, activity and setting because the teacher and the learner role can not analyze in the written form. The result of the study showed that the goal of the compiled book got the mean score, 30.15 % and categorized into less communicative, types of activities was also less communicative with mean score, 26.60 %, language input was appropriate with the student’s need. Almost of the input talked about healthy, but how teacher presented the input in each unit was not in good chronological order. And finally, the setting in the entire task was dominated by individual task. Beside that, the setting made some variation in order to avoid students became bored.
