Students’ preferences on complaint strategies toward their lecturers. The population
of this research was the English Study Program students of Bengkulu University in
the academic years of 2005-2008, which were 160 respondents. Researcher took 20%
of the population as the sample. The number of sample was 32 respondents. This
research used questionnaire as its instrument. The result of this research showed that
(1). The English students’ preferences on complaint strategies were indirect
complaint with 504 occurrences (35 %)., (2). Toward situations that were related to
teaching material and Lecturer’s attitude, the English students’ preferences on
complaint strategies were indirect complaint. But the English students’ preferences on
complaint strategies were somewhat direct complaint toward situations that were
related to opinion and teaching method. And the last, the English students’
preferences on complaint strategies were direct complaint toward situations that were
related to marking and examination., (3). the second semester (2008) of the English
Study Program students’ preferences on complaint strategies were direct complaint.
Furthermore, the fourth semester (2007) and the sixth semester (2006) of the English
Study Program students’ preferences on complaint strategies were indirect complaint.
In contrast, the eighth semester (2005) of the English Study Program students’
