The population&#xD; of this research was the English Study Program students of Bengkulu University in&#xD; the academic years of 2005-2008, which were 160 respondents. Researcher took 20%&#xD; of the population as the sample. The number of sample was 32 respondents. This&#xD; research used questionnaire as its instrument. The result of this research showed that&#xD; (1). The English students&#x2019; preferences on complaint strategies were indirect&#xD; complaint with 504 occurrences (35 %)., (2). Toward situations that were related to&#xD; teaching material and Lecturer&#x2019;s attitude, the English students&#x2019; preferences on&#xD; complaint strategies were indirect complaint. But the English students&#x2019; preferences on&#xD; complaint strategies were somewhat direct complaint toward situations that were&#xD; related to opinion and teaching method.
