  • This study analyzes variables affecting a capital structure of foods and beverages companies at the Indonesian Stock Exchange. The samples of the companies taken in the study were the companies of active foods and beverages traded at the Indonesian Stock Exchange and they had published their financial reports from 2003 to 2007. by a purposive sampling method, multiple linear regressions with the use of SPSS program version 13.0. The dependent variable of the study was capital structure (DTA); whereas, the independent variables were tangible assets (FTA), profitability (NPM), liquidity (CR), growth sales (GS) and firm size (SIZE). The result of the study indicates that only liquidity (CR) ang firm size (SIZE) significantly affected the capital structure (DTA). Out of the five independent variables studied, only profitability (NPM) sicnificantly affected the capital structure (DTA). The effect of the independent variables (FTA, NPM, CR, GS, and SIZE) affecting the dependent variable (DTA) was 15.05 %.
