Bengkulu University (98 Pages) This study was conducted to investigate the effect of Group Investigation technique on students’ reading comprehension of the second grade students of SMPN 7 Bengkulu. This research was a quasy experimental research. The population of this research was all the students of the second grade of SMPN 7 Bengkulu. The subjects were 61 students from two classes; the experimental and control class. The experimental class was treated by applying Group Investigation technique, while the control class was taught as usual by using traditional method. The two classes was have simillar ability in English from the scores of mid term examination. It can be concluded that those classes could be accepted as the samples of this research. After giving the treatment for three meetings, the post test was administrated to both classes. From the data of post-test, it was found that the t-count 1,741 while t-table was 1.671. Thus, t-count was bigger than t-table (1,741 >1.671). Thus, it shows that there is a significant positive effect of Group Investigation technique toward the students’ reading comprehension. The students taught by using Group Investigation achieved higher score than the students taught by traditional method Key words: Group Investigation technique, Reading Comprehension
