Undergraduate Thesis. English Education Study Program of Language and Arts Department. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. University of Bengkulu. This research aims to find supporting detail types and which are dominantly used in the thesis background written by English Education Study Program of University of Bengkulu. The documentation technique and checklist are used in this research. Twelve theses background by English Education students were analyzed by using descriptive quantitative method. This research uses Oshima & Houge’s theory and Langan’s theory. The result of data analysis shows that the most dominant type of supporting details that use in theses background is reasons type with frequency 106 times (26.6%). Followed by quotations type which is used 105 times (26.3%), definitions which is used 102 times (25.6%), examples which is used 54 times (13.6%), contradictions which is used 22 times (5.5%), and step which is used 9 times (2.3%). In conclusion, the dominant category used in their writing is considered as good in accordance to previous studies in written academic.
