  • Indonesia is a country that has the second longest coastline in the world including the beach in Bengkulu which is dominated by pine trees with a stretch of pine leaf waste at the bottom. Pine leaves if soaked in lime water for 24 hours and burned will become ash containing calcium oxide. Clay is known to contain silica which is one of the elements in cement. This research was aimed to know the effect of adding 5% of pine leaf ash and 2,5%, 5%, 7,5%, 10% of red brick ash as addition of cement to the compressive strength. The method of manufacture and testing compressive strength of the mortar refers to SNI 03-6825-2002 and SNI 15-2049-2004. Mortar cube specimen with dimension of 50 x 50 x 50 mm. Each variation has 8 mortar cubes for compressive strength. The range of initial flow values used are 105%-115%. Mortar cubes soaked for 26 days and test of mortar conducted at was 28 days. The highest value of mortar compressive strength occurred in addition 7,5% red brick ash without pine leaf ash of 10,53 MPa with increasing percentage of 26,94% from the normal mortar.
