Daftar Isi:
- Bengkulu is one of the areas in Indonesia, which is vulnerable to earthquake impact. A large earthquake with magnitude of 8.6 M occurred on September 12, 2007 had resulted in various damages along coastal area of Bengkulu City, especially in Ratu Agung District. This study is aimed to understand the level of risk potential based on peak ground acceleration in Ratu Agung District, which is caused by the 8.6 Mw earthquake on September 12, 2007. Total of 32 data obtained from microtremor measurement is analysed. The ground motion prediction is then performed by using the empirical approach. The result of empirical analysis is interpreted to the microzonation map, which is addressed to estimate the risk potential level in the study area. The results shows that the peak ground acceleration in the study area ranges from 0.21 to 0.81g. In general, the microzonation map exhibits that Ratu Agung is categorised as an area with very high risk level to earthquake. A larger peak ground acceleration indicated that there is another possible damage, which can be resulted, i.e. liquefaction. Overall, the results of this study could provide a basic understanding to the earthquake impact and liquefaction for Bengkulu City in general and for Ratu Agung District in particular.
