- An experiment was conducted to identify best concentration of 2,4-D for germination of five swamp rice varieties (Mekongga, Batang Piaman, IR 64, IR 46 and Ciherang). The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replication. The results demonstrated that swamp rice varieties varied in the first count germination, germination speed and seedling height; whereas, 2.4-D affected germination time, germination percentage and seedling height. Varieties and 2.4-D concentration did not interact in the observed variables. IR64 had the best germination as indicated by its highest germination percentage at the first count, germination speed and seedling height. Concentration of 2.4-D at 0.6 cc L resulted in best germination, in term of germination time and germination percentage. -1
