  • The aim of this research is to describe the optimization the role of the principal as instructional supervisor to increase the quality of teaching learning in senior high school number 1 in central of Bengkulu. The research method used qualitatif descriptive. The data of the research were obtained from interview, observation, and document. Data analysis tecnhniques used descriptive qualitative. In doing supervising the supervisor using individual technic and group technic. The results of this research indicate that the optimization of the role of the principal as instructional supervisor are: to plan instructinal supervision program, to socialize the program to the teachers, form instructional supervision team, to arrange schedules and make instructinal supervision instrument. To implement the instructional supervision program by direction, motivation, and improving coordination with the supervision team, so the implementation of instructional supervision can run well. optimization of the role of the principal in giving appreciation to teachers who have achieved the standard of value, giving an assessment of teacher performance as a condition of promotion. and encourage, motivate teachers who have not met the standards of value to be able to develop their own potential in improving the quality of learning.
