AN ANALYSIS OF WRITING ACHIEVEMENT AMONG PERSONALITY TYPES OF THE THIRD SEMESTER ENGLISH DEPARTMENT STUDENTS AT IAIN BENGKULU

- The objective of this research was to investigate significant difference among personality types in students’ writing achievement. The samples of the research comprised the third semester students of English Department of IAIN Bengkulu, academic year 2015/2016. The research design was ex - post facto. The results indicated that students’ writing achievement belonged to three categories, namely, very good, good and fair. The results of statistics analysis indicated that there was significant correlation between personality type and writing achievement, with Sig = 0,011, α = 0, 05. Furthermore, the results of comparison of writing achievements between introvert and extrovert types showed that Sig < α, thus the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Comparison between introvert and ambivert types showed that Sig < α, thus the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Then, comparison between extrovert and ambivert types showed Sig > α, thus the alternative hypothesis was rejected. In conclusion, the students’ writing achievements belonged to very good, good and fair. In addition, there was significant correlation between personality type and students’ writing achievement, between introvert and both of extrovert and ambivert types. Meanwhile there was no significant difference in writing achievement between extrovert and ambivert types. Keywords : Introvert, Extrovert, Ambivert, Writing Achievement
