- Textbook is one of the teaching materials that can be used as media to implement the values of character education. The purpose of this study is to analyze the character values in reading passages and dialogues contained in English students books grade X, XI, XII published by Kemendiknas based on curriculum 2013. This study focuses on (1) the analysis of the values of character education contained in reading passages and dialogues, and (2) how teachers teach those character values to students. The design of this study is descriptive qualitative with content analysis method. The results show that (1) the character values contained in English textbooks grade X, XI, XII consisting of five categories: (a) the character between Human to God 5, 9%, (b) the value between human to themselves 37, 0%, (c) the value between human to others 36, 3%, (d ) the value between human to the environment 11, 85%, and (e) the value between human to nationality 8,9 %. Based on the percentage of the result, it can be seen that the value between human to themselves and the value between human to others is dominate than the other character value. (2) Teachers have integrated the character values in the text in line with the strategy of integrating character values, namely scientific approach.
