- The aims of the application of Project Based Learning are to find out the stage of Project Based Learning that gives prominent contribution to the stu d en ts’ spe a king ab ility a n d to examine the stud e nts’ resp on se s to wa rd the process of the project. Further, the process of Project Based Learning a im ed sh o u ld rep resen t th e stud e nts’ spe a kin g a b ility rega rdin g to th e 2 1 st century skills. A project brief given to students is listed and example of output work of students through a semester are presented for the students of Biology Department at Universitas Bengkulu (UNIB). The design of the study is descriptive research with the presented findings are based on the analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data. The process of PBL applied in this study is represented by conducting 6 stages of PBL. The following six stages are starting with the essential question, designing a plan for the project, creating a schedule, monitoring the students and the progress of the project, presenting and assessing the outcome and the last evaluate the experience. Among the 6 stages, the fifth stage, presenting the p roje ct ga ve th e m ost co n trib utio n fo r stu d en ts’ sp ea king a b ility with percentage of 93.10 % of the students. T h e stu d en ts’ respo n se s to wa rd the project are generally positive. In applying this model, it recommends to control and watch the process of the project by monitoring more in every stage and manages the allocation time.
