- This study aims to describe the application of therapeutic communication of Obgyn Specialist physician with pregnant women patients at the practice of a joint doctor at Apotek Al-Khair Bengkulu. The study departs from an assessment of the health status and performance of maternal health efforts is important for monitoring. This is because Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is a sensitive indicator in describing the welfare of society in a country. For that, Obgyn doctors are expected to communicate well and can educate pregnant women to maintain their health and reduce the risk of anxiety. This research is a qualitative descriptive research type and uses primary data collection technique ie nonparticipant observation and indepth interview, and secondary data from literature study and documentation study. In the withdrawal of informants used Purposive sampling technique for key informants and accidental sampling for key informants. Key informants consisted of one Obgyn physician who opened an independent practice at Apotek Al-Khair and a basic informant of 12 pregnant women who visited for the purpose of consultation. The results showed therapeutic communication of Obgyn physician with pregnant mother patient is health consultation. Of the 16 existing therapeutic communication techniques, Obgyn doctors have conducted 11 therapeutic communication techniques including: showing acceptance, listening, clarification, focusing, conveying observation, silence, summarizing, rewarding, giving clients a chance to start a conversation, suggesting to continue the conversation, and encourage clients to describe their perceptions. There are 5 therapeutic communication techniques that doctors do not include: asking related questions, repeating the words of the client by using their own words, offering information, offering, and reflecting. There are 5 therapeutic communication techniques due to the doctor's time limitations. considering the patient's visit per day can reach 30-40 patients. The interaction between doctors and patients also lasts only briefly for 1012 minutes. Though therapeutic communication techniques are not applied is an important thing to apply.
