IMPROVING STUDENTS’ WRITING ABILITY IN DESCRIPTIVE TEXT THROUGH WH QUESTION TECHNIQUES

- This research is conducted in order to improve the students’ writing ability in Descriptive text through WH Question technique at class X MIPA 4 SMA Negeri 2 Argamakmur. In conducting this research, the researcher used ECAR (English Classroom Action Research) as the method of the research. This research consisted of two cycles and each cycle consisted of four steps, they were: planning, action, observation, and reflection.Each cycle was conducted in two meetings. To collect and analyse the data, the researcher used the information from observation, questionnaire, and the students’ achievement tests in order to support the data collected.The result of this research showed that WH Question Techniques in teaching writing ability can improve students’ writing ability in descriptive text. The improvement of students’ ability in writing descriptive text could be seen from the increase of students’ mean writing score, that is 48.55 in pre – investigation. 50.55 in the first cycle, it caused by the students felt bored and less motivation in the writing class and 83.14 in the second cycle in this cycle the researcher and the collaborator give motivation and game to avoiding bored class in the writing class. While the students who got score more than 75 or Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) were 5 students (18.5%) in pre – investigation, 9 student (33.3%) in first cycle, and 24 students (88.8%)in second cycle. In other words the indicator of success was achieved thenthe researcher concludes that teaching descriptive writing using WH question techniques at the class X MIPA 4 on SMA Negeri 2 Argamakmur can improve the students’ writing ability. Actually the improving of the students’ score caused motivation and varians’ attractive tasks which is given by the researcher and the collaborator, it means that the English teacher must creative to make the attractive class in writing class to avoiding the bored class in the writing class.
