  • This research was a descriptive-qualitative research. The objectives of this research were to investigate and describe the students written in using Transitional Signal in the chapter IV (discussion section) of the thesis. The objects of this research were the chapter IV (discussion part) of the thesis written by English Department Students of FKIP Universitas Bengkulu who graduated April-August 2015. The way of collecting data was using observation checklist and documentation. The result showed all types of the transition signals were found in the chapter IV (discussion section) of the thesis like additional idea, list ideas in time order, add an opposite ideas, indicate result, add a similar idea, give cause or reason, and give an example. The dominant errors transition signals in the chapter IV (discussion section) of the thesis were “And” & “Therefore”. On the other hand, the transition to add conclusion were not found the errors in the chapter IV (discussion section) of the thesis.
