  • Indonesia is known to have a large amount of varieties of orchid; from 25.000 identified world orchid species, 5.000 of them is estimated in Indonesia. Orchid varieties have to be conserved because the habitats are damaged from time to time which is caused by forest degradation and land conversion. These varieties are needed as elders to design new varieties of orchid in plant breeding programs. Objective of this research was to describe morphological character and phylogenetic tree for deciding similarity level and grouping of 20 accessions of nature orchid. Morphological characterization was done to 20 accessions of nature orchid that have been domesticated. Characterization was done for 72 characters that were found in root, trunk, leaf, flower, fruit and stomata. The results of identifications showed that 446 sub-characters that showed high polymorphism (99.33%) and monomorphism (0.67%). Result of clustered analysis to correlation coefficient 40% found 7 groups; in which B.claptonense, B. dearei and Bulbophyllum sp. were in group I, C. asperata, C. pandurata, C. purverula, G. stapeliiflorum, C. chloranthum , and C. bicolor were in group II, Dendrobium sp. and D. bicaudatum were in group III, A. liliifolia,P. latifolia and Eria sp. were in group IV, P. amboinensis, P. tetraspis, and P. cornuservi were in group V, P. tankervilleae and A. graminifolia were in groupV I, and S. plicata was in group VII.
