- Indonesia is rich in bird diversity. But the species richness of bird is threatened by illegal trapping and the destruction of habitat. The rate of deforestation in Indonesia is higher than one million hectares per year. One of deforested area is the Grand Forest Park Rajolelo in Bengkulu due to land use conflict with local community. The loss of forest may reduce the number of bird species in the forest area. This research was done to know the number of bird species and the legal protection status, and to compare with the previous data. Results showed that the number of bird species in Rajolelo Grand Forest Park was 17, belonging to 13 families. Two species were protected by the Government Regulation no 7, 1999. In the last 6 years, the number of bird species in Rajolelo Grand Forest Park declined.
