- The research is aimed to know the legal protection of batik besurek based on copy right act no. 19 year 2002, and to know factors which become obstacles in protecting it. The method used in research is normative juridical research method, with statute aproach. This research was done by analyzing the primary legal material, secondary legal material and tersier legal material in order to get the information regarding the research matter. The result of this research shows us that Batik Besurek has a historical value, aesthetic value, and economic value which also help society economic and help the district government in adding district income especially Bengkulu city. Considering those matters come to conclusions that Batik Besurek desaign must have a legal protection to prevent it from being copied by others.
