- Reciprocity represents mutual giving. There are interesting implications in every unique ritual that is carried out included in this prophetic ritual. This study explores the concept of reciprocity in the nelubulanin ceremony using the analysis tools of the theory of giving by Marcel Mauss's theory, using qualitative research methods, descriptive approaches. This research found that there is a principle of reciprocity in this ritual. This ritual is motivated by several factors, namely social and economic factors. Viewed from a social point of view, namely, to maintain harmony and kinship between residents so that harmony can be created properly and the existence of this habit can maintain the continuity of relations between residents. Meanwhile, from an economic point of view, reciprocity can relieve residents when holding events or congratulations, especially those with middle to lower economic levels, even though they have less capital, they can still carry out a celebration and celebration event.
