- The family are very suited to be a character education for its members. In the family occurs intense social interactions and continuously, so it can be used as a place of transformation of character values. In the family also easily awakened emotional bond of love and brotherhood. The problem, Many families assume that meet the needs of the material will make its members can live happily. Therefore they worked tirelessly. Children feel left that can cause a child to escape from real life and the search for his own pleasure, which is not necessarily in accordance with the norms or moral values. In Bali seemed symptom of moral degradation of children, which in particular also occur in Desa Adat Belayu. For example, like booze, tantrums if not complied with his request, often being insolent to parents. Research shows that the first, the value of the character / character that is important inculcated in children in families at Desa Adat Belayu are: (a) the attitude and behavior of the belief in God / sraddha bhakti; (b) the attitude and behavior of true and honest; (c) the attitudes and behavior of forgiving others; (d) the attitudes and behavior of helpfulness; (e) the attitudes and behaviors of respect to parents; (f) the attitudes and behaviors obedient and submissive. Second, the process of implantation on the character in children in the family through: (1) the process of knowing about the good; (2) the process feel obliged to perform acts of kindness; and (3) the process of doing an act of kindness. Third, the role of the family in educating children so that children have the knowledge of the good, to have a feeling of obligation to do good, and has the ability to perform acts of kindness certainly the emphasis on the activities of the parents in educating children about character values.Keywords: Character Values and Family Functions
