- The aim of this article to suggest a fun method of learning addition and subtraction in elementary school children. Based on the National Education Law and the 1945 Constitution, every citizen has the right to get quality education. In Law No. 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System, the education pathway consists of formal, non-formal and informal education that can complement and enrich each other. One of formal education is Elementary School. Basic abilities that Elementary School’s Students must have such as reading, writing and arithmetic. Counting is the main key in arithmetic. Without having a good counting basic concept, it will be difficult to learn the next mathematics lessons. One method of arithmetic that is easy to learn and practical is "Jarimatika". It uses the fingers and finger knuckles for the operation of multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction. Addition and substraction are the basis of learning multiplication and division. The advantages of using the Jarimatika counting method includes: 1. Using visualization of the counting process so that is easy to understand. 2. The movements of the fingers are interesting so learning becomes more fun. 3. It’s very simple, so it is not burdening the memory of the brain. 4. The equipment that used is always available and does not need to be bought
