- Introduction Childbirth in pregnant women is a physiological process that can accompany the lives of almost all women. During labor there will be a drop in the head into the pelvic cavity by pressing the pudendal nerve which causes a sensation of pain experienced in the mother. Labor pain can be a problem experienced by mothers who give birth because it can cause stress that causes excessive hormone release. The goal of reducing pain in labor by applying warm compresses is related to the empirical literature published in the last five years. Design: this thesis uses Literature Review, through Google Scholar (2015-2020), PubMed (2015-2010), ProQuest (2015-2020), National Library e-Resources (2015-2020 in Indonesian and English. The term review and search method includes the keywords warm compresses, pain intensity, and the first stage labor. Abstracts or full text come from previously reviewed studies based on inclusion criteria and quality studies using strobe guidelines. Results: From a study of 10 journals, the pain felt by mothers after being given warm compress intervention showed that the pain was slightly reduced with an average pain scale of 4.27%. Conclusion: Previous research shows that there is a significant effect of giving warm compresses to reduce pain during the 1st stage of labor.
