- SUMARRY SUWANTO. The effect of oil palm empty fruit bunch compost and NPK compound fertilizer on the growth and production of sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt.) in dry land. (guided by ( YOPIE MOELYOHADI and ERNI HAWAYANTI ). This study aims to determine and deremine the best dose of oil palm empty fruit bunches and NPK compound fertilizer on the growth and production of sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt.). This research has been carried out on farmers land located in the village of Sukamulya, Sematang Borang District, Palembang city, South Sumatra province. This research has been carried out from September to Desember 2019. The research method used in this study is the field experiment method. The design used is a split plot with 12 kombinations repeated 3 times. The treatments applied are: Tankos compost (T) : T0 = control, T1 = 5 tons/ha, T2 = 10 Tons/ha, T3 = 15 tons/ha. While NPK compound fertilizer (P) : P1 = 200 kg/ha, P2 = 300 kg/ha, P3 = 400 kg/ha. The observed variables were plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), cob length (cm), cob diameter (cm), weight of cropped cobs (g), harvest crop production (kg). The results showed that the combination pf tankos fertilizer at a rate of 15 tons per hectare and NPK compound fertilizer at a dose of 400 kg per hectare gave the best effect on the growth and production of sweet corn in dry land with an average yield of 14,40 kg per plot or equivalent to 18 tons per hectare of weighted fresh cob.
