- Layout design includes setting the layout of the work station by utilizing the area available for placement of work stations, equipment materials for operations, and all equipment used in the operation process. Disadvantages of the existing layout in SMEs Sarino brick making is the arrangement of the layout of each work station that is not yet appropriate, because it has not taken into account the degree of closeness between work stations seen in stoves that are located far from dry bricks. Moreover, the process of removing bricks that have been dried into the furnace is still done manually. With this problem, the company must be able to change the layout of existing layouts. Based on the results of data processing, the percentage reduction in alternative material handling layout path 1 with the initial layout is 34.94%, while the percentage decrease in material handling alternative layout path 2 with layout the beginning is 37.45%. This proves that alternative 2 layouts are more optimal compared to the initial layout and alternative layout 1. Thus, redesigning the initial layout has reduced the length of the meterial handling of the production process while reducing production time. Keywords: Design, Layout, Bricks, Material Handling
