- ABSTRACK This study aims to determine the pattern of the approach of agricultural extension workers in implementing agricultural extension programs in the district of Tugumulyo, the district of Central Sumatra, this research starting from August 2018 to October 2018. The research method used is a case study for sampling methods used in the census method and simple random sampling. The data collection method used in this study is direct interviews with respondents who have been determined by using Koesisoner tools that have been prepared in advance. Processing and analysis of data was carried out using a qualitative descriptive method and the results of the study showed that the pattern of the approach of agricultural extension officers in implementing agricultural extension programs was carried out individually. The obstacles of agricultural extension agents in implementing agricultural extension programs are four indicators, namely, the lack of effectiveness of extension services, the distance traveled by each member of the farmer group is quite far, the agricultural culture inherent in several groups of farmers and lack of assistance from the government.
