- At the moment, there has been changes in Javanese people behaviour from traditional to modern. Physically those changes can be seen in “Sentong Tengah”. Once it was a sacred room of the house, but now it’s functionally changing into a living room, family room, bed room or even a store room. In the traditional houses matters, according to Rapoport (1983), the slowest changes (“core elements”) are values or their life’s philosophy, meanwhile the fastest changes (“peripheral elements”) are how they use the elements of houses practically and efficiently, such as the use of modern structure system and the way to build the building performance, from traditional ways to modern ways so it will influence the performance of the Joglo, physically or building construction. Through the studies of Joglo in Yogyakarta , there are conlusions such as the facade of Joglo (“performance”) are not architectural works that against the nature, but they are unite (“context”) with the tropical climate of Indonesia or their surroundings.
