- In Indonesia, the phenomenon of intercultural communication in families of different ethnic groups is interesting to be studied further. Especially for families that involve ethnic groups that are equally dominant and contradictory, for example Betawi ethnic marriages with Arabs. Intercultural communication will always occur in human social life. This is felt by individuals who are members of the same environment as people from various regions, especially those that occur in inter-ethnic marriages in Indonesia. This research was conducted to find out how intercultural communication is at weddings between ethnic Betawi and Arab ethnic cultures. The method used in this study is the Phenomenology method with a qualitative approach. The qualitative approach is chosen because it aims to provide a real picture, and an explanation by analyzing descriptive, about how verbal behavior of ethnic differences couples, how the process of verbal communication of ethnically different couples. The data collection technique used in this study is observation, namely in this study researchers first observed the phenomenon of people who married ethnic differences, which occurred in Kampung Krukut, West Jakarta. The results showed that married couples of different ethnicity still survived with each language even though the interaction they did was difficult to get effective communication.
