  • A study of knowledge and practice about malaria in the community was conducted in rural area of Banpres and Tongoa, Donggala, Province of Central Sulawesi during February to November 2004. The study was designed as cross sectional study. Thirty-six households were randomly selected for the study. They were interviewed and a questionnaire to investigate knowledge and practice community was applied. Ninety-four point four percent of respondent know that malaria is dangerous and should get treatment, though only 58,8% of respondents know the characteristic of malaria clinical symptom. Eighty point six percent of respondent said that malaria can be prevent. Knowledge about mosquito as malaria vector (47,2%) and malaria vector breeding places (44,4%) is low. Almost of respondents were graduated from primary school (SD). About this research, it is very important to increase knowledge, attitude and practice of community with malaria training to the community. Key words: Knowledge, practice, malaria, Palolo
