  • It was common that layer smallholder awareness of biosecurity is low. Each layer smallholder is faced with a unique set of disease risks and therefore, require a unique and individually tailored set of biosecurity measure to minimize this risks. This paper aimed to know biosecurity adoption of layer smallholders in South Sulawesi. Sidrap Regency was choosen as a location of the research, because Sidrap was famous as a central of layer smallholders in South Sulawesi. This research was conducted for a month in May 2010. Total sample was 60 layer smallholders. The sample was choosen through purposive sampling method based on FAO and Dinas census data. Data were collected from smallholders in South Sulawesi using structured questionnaires and depth-interview. The data were tabulated using Excel spreadsheet and analysed using a simple method of scoring with regard to their biosecurity status. The status of biosecurity was used to know smallholder biosecurity adoption. Using Likert scale, biosecurity adoption was classified into three level: a low biosecurity (score 1), a medium biosecurity (score 2) and a high biosecurity (score 3). This research revealed that biosecurity adoption of layer farms in South Sulawesi was classified into a ???medium???.
