  • Province of North Maluku is still one area that has a very high malaria endemicity, the number of clinical malaria in 2008 was 20,875 cases, with the Annual Malaria Incidence (AMI) 37.5%o. One method of eradication of malaria vectors is the use of insecticide-treated nets. This study aims to determine the relations of the use of insecticide-treated nets with the incidence of malaria. The study was analytical observastion using a cross sectional study. The study was conducted in East Halmahera regency from Mart to May 2011. The number of sampel was 200 respondents. The data were analyzed bivariately using chi square and multivariately by using logistic regression. The results of the studi indicate that 31 (15,5%) of the respondents using bed nets have malaria positive. The use of insecticide-treated nets in which X2 = 9.604 and p = 0.002, frequency of use in which X2 = 56.664 and p = 0.000 and the treatment of insecticide-treated nets in which X2 = 6.580 and p = 0.010 associated with the incidence of malaria, time of the use of bed nets in which X2 = 0.003 and p = 0.956 and materials in which X2 = 0.198 and p = 0.656 were not related to the incidence of malaria. The frequency of the use of bed nets is the variable which has a strong correlation with the incidence of malaria in East Halmahera Regency. This study suggested that each family use insecticide-treated nets to reduce the incidence of malaria.
