- Large pelagic fishery is a fishery commodities which have economic value is relatively high, so large pelagic fisheries development can improve the economy of communities and regions. n connection with this, the aim of this study was to determine the productivity of large pelagic fish using a handline fishing in the Makassar Strait. This research was conducted in July-September 2012, this study examines the ability capture handline fishing. Large pelagic fish species observed is the skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis), yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares), and tongkol (Auxis hazard).Fishing productivity shows the downward trend and the fishing ground for the production of tuna, mackerel and yellowfin tuna fish highest in rumpon at position 118031'44.8 '' BT and 118??41' 9.9 "BT and 04030 ' 25" S and 118029'37.3'' BT.
