- The present study was aimed to observe survival and growth rate of top shell (Trochus niloticus L.) juvenile fed with three different microalgae. The research was conducted from May to July 2006 at hatchery Marine Field Station, Barrang Lompo island, SW Makassar, South Sulawesi. The teartments consist of: A) Chaetoceros sp, B) Nitzschia sp, and C) Nanno chloropsis with three replicates was applied using Randomized Complete Design. Water quality was also measured during study period regularly. The result indicates, Nitzchia sp gave a better result in growth compared to other diets. However, statistically, there is no significant difference amongst treatments. Survival ranges 99 - 100 %, respectively. The study implies that all diet can be used in increasing juvenile production.
