  • Self-disclosure is a statement or verbally disclose to others with thoughts, feels, or personal experiences. Self-disclosure is an important aspect in parent-child relationship and only can be built by trust. The trust between parent and adolescent is influenced by parent’s behavior trough parenting style in family. Parenting style itself is directly related with adolescent’s self-disclosure. The purpose of this study is to find out the differences in adolescent self-disclosure in terms of parenting style. In this study using 125 respondents consisting of 66 boys and 59 girls. Respondents also have such criteria, still living with their parents, a high school student, and aged between 15 and 18 years old. The results of this study are divided into dominance of father parenting with F = 5,730 and p = 0,002, and dominance of mother parenting with F = 7,258 and p = 0,000. These results indicate that there are significant differences in adolescent self-disclosure when viewed from the parenting style. Adolescent with authoritative parents will show high self-disclosure, on the other hands, adolescent with authoritarian, permissive, or neglectful/uninvolved parents will show low self-disclosure to their parents.
