- These days, the proportion of single women in over 35 years old has increased, especially in the big cities (Suryani, 2007) thus causing anxiety for parents. This research aimed to gives an overview about mother’s anxiety of their unmarried middle aged daughter. This research conducted by using qualitative method which started with preliminary study towards 4 mothers at their elder days. The data analysis process began with giving questionnaire which based on Jackson-5 scale of revised reinforcement sensitivity theory and their application to dysfunctional real world outcomes, to find out the subject’s anxiety level. Then, the analysis process followed by in-depth interview to subject with moderate to severe anxiety level in order to understand the subjects directly. The findings shows that the subjects were undergo the situation known as state anxiety. Associated with the anxiety level, there were 3 subjects of moderate anxiety level and 1 subject of severe anxiety level. Then, the findings also show that subject’s culture and religion did not affect their anxiety, but their age did caused the four subjects urge their unmarried middle aged daughters to get married soon.
