  • Self-control affects academic procrastination and the other way around. Self-control is defined as individual ability to choose a behavior by considering the effect in the future. Meanwhile academic procrastination is defined as unneccesary delay in the academical environment that consists of six areas, which are: paper, study for exam, weekly reading assignments, academic administrative tasks, attendance tasks, and general school activities. This reseach was done on 136 students who study at various universities in Jakarta Barat. Using the non experimental quantitative method, this research was designed as a correlational research. Data analysis using Pearson’s correlational theory results in r(136) = -272 and p = .001, hence it could be concluded that there is a negative significant correlation between self-control and academic procrastination. If one’s self-control is high, then he tends to not procrastinate. On the other hand, if one’s self-control is low, then he tends to procrastinate.
