  • To remain unmarried was an uncommon choice of life for women, but many women choose to be unmarried nowadays. Every women who chooses to live an unmarried life will pass through five processes to come to a stable decision. The five processes are appraising the challenge, surveying alternatives, weighing alternatives, deliberating about commitment, and adhering despite negative feedback. The aim of this research is to understand the whole decision making process to remain unmarried. This research involves three subjects who are women whom age range between 40-55 years old, have never been married before, whose educational background are at least D-3, and are still actively working until now. Researcher uses qualitative methods and interviewed every subject to gather the information. The interview was held on March 28th 2008 until Mei 19th 2008. The result of this research is every subject passed through the five processes unsystematically, which are appraising the challenge, surveying alternatives, deliberating about commitment, adhering despite negative feedback, and weighing alternatives.
