  • The objective of research is: to find out the effect of learning approach using MP3 and conventional approach for squat-style long jump subject matter in the IV graders of SDN (Public Elementary School) in Kelurahan Mojosongo Surakarta in the School Year of 2009/2010. This study belongs to a quasi-experimental research (PEK). The subject of research was IV graders of SDN Sabranglor and SDN Wonowoso in the School Year of 2009/2010 each of which consisted of 40 students. Techniques of collecting data used were test and squat-style long jump measurement. Techniques of analyzing data used were (1) Descriptive Statistic Analysis and (2) Inferential Statistical Analysis. Considering the result of descriptive and inferential statistic analysis, (1) from the aspect of long jump comparison product between the students treated using MP3 learning approach is better than the ones treated using conventional learning approach and (2) from the aspect of learning approach application, the game learning approach is effective on the long jump competency. The effectiveness of game learning approach application as shown by the result of data analysis shows (1) Observation data analysis on the student’s learning activities in four meetings is categorized as good and very good. (2) From the descriptive comparative analysis, for the comparison of posttest students, the students is said passing the learning if they belong to good and very good category. In the experiment group there are 25 students passing, while in the group control there are only 12 students. From the product aspect or improvement of squat-style long jump competency it can be seen that from the PEK hypothesis testing, the squat-style long jump learning achievement using game learning approach is better than that using conventional approach. Based on the result of similarity and parallelism tests, in fact, those two linear regression models is not the same but parallel. For that reason, it can be concluded that there is a difference of learning achievement in squat-style long jump between the approach using MP3 and conventional learning approach. The regression line constant of experiment group is 68.723. This constant is higher than the regression line constant of control group of 1.492. It shows that the learning achievement of squat-style long jump using game learning approach is better than that using conventional approach.
