Sebelas Maret University An isolation and identification of Cyperus rotundus L. compounds of the essential oils has been carried out. An isolation used to stahl distillation method. The isolated compounds were identified by Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS). Stahl distillation of Cyperus rotundus L. showed bright yellow essential oils with the percentage 0,33 % (w/w). The TLC showed the presence of sesquiterpene hydrocarbons in the essential oils. The GC-MS analized Forthy one compounds. The identified compounds by GC-MS were (-)-alpha gurjunene, beta-selinene, (+)-spathulenol, (-)-Caryophyllene oxide and aristolone.
