  • A small scale fixed-bed throatless rice husk gasifier reactor with internal diameter of 14 cm and height of 60 cm was designed and fabricated. Rice husk as fuel in this study had moisture content around 16% and bulk density of 122 kg/m3. Trial runs were conducted varying the air flow rate. The producer gas which had been produced was then flared, and the flame was visually analyzed. In every test run, the initial weight of fuel, operating time, and weight of solid residue (char and ash) were collected. These datas were then used to determine Specific Gasification Rate (SGR), Percentage of Solid Residue, and Equivalence Ratio (ER). It was found that the gasifier performance (nalyzed from flame stability) was good enough at a specific gasification rate around 19,5 kg/m2.hr. Under the best operating conditions, the equivalence ratio was 0,71 and the gasification process still remaining around 43% of solid residue. keywords: fixed-bed throatless gasifier, rice husk, specific gasification rate, esuivalent ratio.
