- Peel off masks of the ethanolic extract of Garcinia cowa, Roxb. rinds have been formulated. Three formulas were prepared containing the extract 1%; 1,5% and 2% respectively Poly Vinyl Alcohol (PVA) was used as coating film, Poly Vinyl Pyrolidone (PVP) as a thickener, propylenglycol as a humectan, nipagin and nipasol as preservatives and ethanol as a solvent. The masks were subjected to evaluation procedures including homogeneity, pH, spreading test, skin irritation test, elongation test, time for drying test, physical stabilities test against cooling and the antioxidant activity assay by DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-pikrilhydrazil). Results showed that all formulas relativity stable physically during 6 week storage and the best formula was formula II with 1,5% of the ethanolic extract of the Garcinia cowa, Roxb. rinds.
- Telah diformulasi masker peel off dari ekstrak etanol kulit buah asam kandis (Garcinia cowa, roxb) sebagai kosmetik dalam tiga formula dengan konsentrasi 1%; 1,5% dan 2% dengan menggunakan Poli Vinil Alkohol (PVA) sebagai bahan pembentuk lapisan film, Poli Vinil Pirolidon (PVP) sebagai pengental, propilenglikol sebagai humektan, nipagin dan nipasol sebagai pengawet dan etanol sebagai pelarut. Evaluasi masker meliputi pemerian, homogenitas, pemeriksaan pH, uji daya menyebar, uji iritasi kulit, uji elastisitas, uji waktu mengering, uji stabilitas fisik terhadap pendinginan dan uji aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metoda DPPH (1,1-difenil-2-pikrihildrazil). Dari hasil evaluasi, ketiga formula relatif stabil secara fisik selama 6 minggu penyimpanan, dan masker yang paling baik adalah formula II dengan konsentrasi ekstrak etanol kulit buah asam kandis 1,5%.
