- Background : Peanut shell is a waste that the contents of antioxidant can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of peanut shell extract to the LDL/HDL ratio on rats induced by high fat diet. Method : This study is an experimental research with post test only control group design. The rats were divided into 5 group, they are normal control group induced by daily diet, positive control group induced by high fat diet and simvastatin dose of 0,9 mg/kg/day, and three groups treatment induced by high fat diet and peanut shell extract dose of 300 mg/kg/day, 600 mg/kg/day, and 1200 mg/kg/day. Result : The LDL/HDL ratio on treatment groups did not have different value statistically with positive control group and normal control group (p=0,143). Conclusion : The peanut shell extract that is induced into dose of 300, 600, and 1200 mg/kg/day on high fat diet-induced rats have the equal effect to an hypolipidemia agent simvastatin dose of 0,9mg/kg/day in lowering the ratio of LDL/HDL.
