  • ABSTRACT Along with manucfacturing development in manufacturing industry the use of composite materials which are environmentally friendly and recyclable are the current technological guidance. Composite materials of natural fibers are one of the composite materials which are expected to industry. This study aims to determine how the values of tensile strength and bending strength on the variation of fiber length of borassus flabellifer to the mechanical properties of siwalan fiber reinforced polyester composite. This research uses experiment method. In the manufacture specimens of experimental design for tensile and bending tests use was factorial design (variation for fiber length for 3 repetitions). While the data analysis uses a one-way analysis of fariance (One ways Anova). In tensile test, the highest fiber composite tensile strength was found at 30 mm length is 16.86 MPa and the lowest value of 10 mm is 10 mm fiber length. Similarly, tensile testing, on bending test, the highest bending strength value is at 30 mm length of 57.25 Mpa and the lowest value at 10 mm fiber length is 30,91 Mpa. Keyword :
