  • This quasi-experimental research aims to determine the effect of discovery learning model aided virtual laboratory media towards mastery of concepts and problem solving skills physics students. This study design using pre-test post-test control group design. The study population is all students grade X SMAN 3 Mataram in academic year 2015/2016 and sample is students class X-11 as the experimental group and the students class X-12 as the control group is selected by cluster random sampling. Data mastery of concepts and problem solving skills were analyzed using t-test polled variance at significant level of 5%. Hypothesis research shows that tcount greater than ttable (4.78 ≥ 1.99) for mastery of concepts and (3.60 ≥ 1.99) for problem solving skills. This means that media-assisted learning model discovery of virtual laboratory positive effect on mastery of concepts and problem solving skills physics students. N-gain test results show that the increased mastery of concepts in each sub material dynamic electricity. The results of the final test at problem solving steps showed that the experimental group had a higher capacity than the control class, particularly on define goals and objective, generate solution, make a plan of action, and follow through.
